What Mealime's website says

The Mealime homepage has a banner that says Mealime will shut down on October 21, 2026. The closing page says it will be discontinued as of that date.

Recipes will continue on Meals Hub. You reach it through an Albertsons Cos. store app, and some preferences have to be set up again there.

Personal data will be deleted when the app shuts down. The closing page does not describe an export, so copy the recipes you want to keep before you lose access.

Pro subscriptions are being wound down. Subscribers will not be charged after the announcement, and Pro recipes and features become available to all users.

That date has passed as of this guide. Open the app to see whether it still works, and read the closing page for the latest status.

What Mealime offered

The free app planned a week of meals in minutes. It offered more than 200 options for diets, allergies and servings, and it built a grocery list sorted by category.

Pro was a monthly subscription. It added nutrition details for recipes, calorie filters, recipe notes, access to your two most recent meal plans and priority email support. Mealime's price page from August 2021 listed Pro at $2.99 a month in the US.

Mealime ran on iOS, Android and the web. You could upgrade to Pro in the app or in the browser.

Who might want something else

Look at another app if one of these fits you:

  • You want a planner that will still run after the closing date.
  • You want to keep your own recipes in one place. Paprika is built for that.
  • You cook on an iPhone and want each recipe walked through one step at a time.
  • You want to try a planner for free first. Samsung Food's core features are free.

To see what a finished week looks like before you switch, write one week of dinners on paper and see which app makes that week easiest to shop for.

Before you move, be clear about what you used Mealime for. If you picked a dinner each night and copied the list, almost any planner will do. If you relied on the Pro extras, such as calorie filters or nutrition details, check each alternative for them before you pay for anything.

Where the two differ

Here is how Yumpot and Mealime compare on the points that matter most.

  • Phones: Mealime ran on iOS, Android and the web. It is made for iPhone only.
  • Allergies and diets: Mealime's homepage lists more than 200 options for diets, allergies and servings. The app covers 16 allergens and four diets: everything, pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan.
  • Account: there is no sign-up and no password. Your menu stays on your phone.
  • Cooking: each recipe is shown one clear step at a time, with the amounts inside the text. A kitchen helper answers cooking questions. The helper is an AI and can be wrong, so trust the recipe when in doubt.
  • Price: Mealime's core app was free, with Pro as a monthly subscription. The app has a 3-day free trial, then costs $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US App Store.

The short version: Yumpot is built for cooking at home on iPhone, with one step on screen at a time. If you also plan on Android or a computer, look at the other apps in this guide.

Other apps to try

  • Plan to Eat turns the recipes you save into a calendar and a grocery list. It works on iOS, Android and the web. The website lists $5.95 a month or $49 a year after a 14-day trial with no card needed.
  • Samsung Food is free on iPhone, iPad and the web, with more than 240,000 public recipes. Food+ costs $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year in the US App Store.
  • Paprika keeps your recipe collection and adds a meal planner and Smart Grocery Lists. It is sold per platform. Paprika 3 costs $4.99 on the US App Store with no subscription listed, and it also runs on Mac and Windows.

Try one app for a full week before you move your recipes over. Cook one dinner from its menu, write the shopping list and time how long the whole job took. Then compare it with what you did before.
